This icon retreat drew me in because of the image of Our Lady of Sorrows.  I had no desire to hold a brush or create the best art work of my life.  What I have gained from this retreat was an immense intimacy of Jesus living in me.  I also realized that silence and solitude is imperative in the spiritual life.  May I never be far from you, Lord.  I love my icon because it's mine and may God be glorifued with my efforts.

Brenda's icon workshop was fantastic.  I never would have believed I could create something like this.  Brenda is a great teacher; she is patient, kind and encouraging.  It was a very fulfilling and spiritual experience.  I would recommend this to anyone, whether you can paint or not!

               I found the icon workshop to be a wonderful spiritual experience.  Brenda was able to keep us on track and focused throughout the workshop.  I appreciated her willingness to help during difficult steps and felt her teaching technique was great, especially since she was dealing with all levels of skill.  I'm looking forward to another workshop.

              Before starting the workshop, I prayed earnestly about whether this was something I can actually accomplish.  I have cerebral palsy which makes it almost "impossible" by a medical standpoint for me to paint successfully.  I knew though that this workshop was more about being with Christ, our Blessed Mother and the saints.  I went and couldn't be more glad that I did.  I was able to be in communion with the Trinity, our Blessed Mother and the saints in a profound way.  It was through their help alone that I was able to craft such a beautiful icon filled with all the love I have for God and prayers I said during this time.  If you want such an encounter and see God work in and through you, I suggest you attend one of Brenda's workshops.
